Objective 1: Control of access and backhaul resources in dense wireless networks

Motivation

The overarching goal of the SDN “wireless access backhaul” challenge is to design an SDN architecture that enables future dense wireless networks of small cells, in order to cope with the forecasted increase of mobile traffic demand. To achieve the previous goal, work is necessary in both the access, which will be interference limited, and the backhaul, which needs to be flexible, cope with high traffic dynamics, and will be composed of a mix of Line of Sight (LoS) technologies, like 60GHz, and NLoS technologies, like 5GHz Wi-Fi.
