General Project Objectives

eSDN focuses on eight project objectives in order to:

• Design and Evaluate

• Dense heterogeneous wireless networks management mechanisms, and techniques for more flexible monitoring and control of the transport network, reducing energy consumption and providing multidomain routes with QoS guarantees,
• Algorithms and architectures that virtualize resources and services in optical and wireless access networks,
• A scalable and robust control plane to manage multidomain networks,
• Monitoring functions and traffic engineering for backbone networks,
• Security mechanisms for the provision of services in multivendor and multidomain scenarios;

• a heterogeneous, multidomain, federated platform among partners interconnected by RedIris to validate the current proposal.

The project proposal is the result of the experience that the organizations of the consortium have acquired by participating in the development of European and international Future Internet Experimentation (FIRE, Géant, FIBRE, EHU-OEF), standardization groups, and industrial projects related to SDN.
